Obama: Attack the media, don't point out the problem.

The media is a narcissistic self-possessed mirror watcher. It can't help but gaze at its' own work and see it in the best light. When Obama points out the hysteria caused by the media, he shouldn't make it a talking point - he should attack them for making things worse.

When Obama points out like a rational person:

"If you've been watching television for the last month, all you have been seeing, all you have been hearing about is these guys with masks or black flags who are potentially coming to get you," he said in the NPR interview. "So I understand why people are concerned about it."

"Look, the media is pursuing ratings," he added later. "This is a legitimate news story. I think that, you know, it's up to the media to make a determination about how they want to cover things."

The modern president is not familiar with wartime propaganda. The leaders of old understood that while media should be free it's power for ill in a time of war was a serious problem if not checked. Obama needs to ridicule that same free press that is self-consumed with non-critical analysis and fear mongering that drives their profits at the expense of the people that they supposedly represent.

The fact is that 1100 people killed by ISIS is a tiny blip on the map lost in the noise of car crashes.   The USA could kill 10,000 people a day forever. So in reality ISIS is a tiny shit stain on humanity that is overblown to elephantine status by stupid people over-estimating their lack of thought on the subject.

Time for Obama to summon his inner-Trump and blast them for their incompetence. At least then he would be in quorum with the American people.

Bill Maher is very clear about what he states.

Bill Maher is in hot water for his comparison of American Sniper to The Hurt Locker and how that was misunderstood.  Bill Maher described the movie about Chris Kyle, American Sniper, not the person Chris Kyle, it's" just ...American hero,... he's a psychopath patriot and we love him"...

He read some quotes from Chris Kyle.  Which tend to support his claim.

A person with a personality disorder indicated by a pattern of lying, cunning, manipulating, glibness, exploiting, heedlessness, arrogance, delusions of grandeur, sexual promiscuity, low self-control, disregard for morality, lack of acceptance of responsibility, callousness, and lack of empathy and remorse. Such an individual may be especially prone to violent and criminal offenses.
2. A person diagnosed with antisocial or dissocial personality disorder.
3. A person who has no moral conscience.
4. A person who perpetrates especially gruesome or bizarre violent acts.

Chris Kyle, the soldier did become callous - with a lack of empathy for his foes. No one would argue that his sympathy would lie with his comrades. He was willing to shoot people at distance to save his comrades.


But people are not listening, he's commenting on the willingness of the people to support a movie ABOUT a psychopathic killer,  who doesn't seem Christian, than a movie ABOUT an Explosives Ordnance Disposal technician because of the oversimplification.

They are clouding a supposed attack on Chris Kyle the man, when he was in fact dismayed at the American people.


Now the people that can't see the subtlety of what Bill Maher claimed, like Breitbart need to hit the emotional reset button and understand what he said. Or they can go on getting mad at the wrong thing.

I was reading this Philosophy blog from the Stanford University and it struck me that neither of these philosophers - being in California - had been in New York or Washington on September 11, 2001.


Well as a foreign visitor, attending a course at Johns Hopkins University, I was there on that fateful day. I have a picture of the Pentagon one day earlier.  I watched the news, saw the attacks, and marvelled with our professors at the ultimate depravity of that fateful turning point.  Lawrence Klein had flown in to teach us and he was the most upset of all. It was a horrible day filled with doubt, fear, panic, and confusion.

It is nice to sit back in comfort and consider the deeper meanings of things from a tempered viewpoint.  But on that day in September it was no laughing matter and still isn't to be taken lightly.

People may look back and accuse George Bush of all sorts of buffonery. He deserves his share to be sure. And we can argue in circles about the reasons over Iraq but that attack on Afghanistan was in my view light compensation.  Frankly, I think most of the world would have understood had the Pentagon nuked Kandhahar. It would have been a heinous act but no less fitting the depravity that started it.

What people who have not been in the military do not grasp, and perhaps now that Islamic State has begun the Caliphate they can see, is that the people we are fighting do not see this as a fair contest between two nations locked in a struggle.  They see us as vermin for not heeding the will of Allah.  We are nothing more than condemned men awaiting final judgment. Ignore all the failings and misdeeds. There is a reason that the struggle is better over there than over here.

We are locked in a mortal struggle that will continue until one side is victorious.

On this level, there is no moral high ground,  there is no greater good, and the human rights of those savages that reject society should not be a consideration.  There will be no quarter for you or your family if these psychopathic mindless religious zombies win.  

Why do you think there was no surrender by the Taliban? Because they only need to bide their time and we leave.  They are not stopping to reevaluate they are stopping to reload and make ready!

In this context, there is a reason why you are in fact in more danger than in 1911.

Example,  in 1911 no Prussian farmer was inclined to board a cruiseliner, sail to New York, find his contacts, strap on a crude suicide belt, and walk into Grand Central Station and detonate himself crying, "God is great!".  There was no collateral threat from splinter groups or insurgent cells.  A Prussian farmer had no Youtube to learn how to attack mass gatherings.  Or blow up tanks.

In this day and age it would be a local kid that falls for the nonsense that is jihad, goes to Syria and learns all he needs and then returns to carry out a lone wolf attack.  Killing 500 people would not be unreasonable.

We must not allow ourselves to "humanize" an enemy that is essentially running on autopilot and is not moral. Rules of society should not hold against anti-society sociopaths.

Police militarization versus Army nonlethalizaion

How ironic.

The US Army is funding research into non lethal crowd suppression weapons using heat wave and sound wave devices to quell large protesting crowds.

Why? The US Army learned in Iraq that to use lethal force against protesters would make them more prone to violence and hence turn peaceful demonstrators into angry frustrated terrorists.



At the same time, local police forces are misusing tactical weaponry meant to respond to terror cells that attack small town America. The media is unfair   blaming a reasonable program on the actions of a few police forces. The goal was to give small police forces the equipment to take on a well-armed and well-organized terror cell.  To be fair to Department of Homeland Security, this was a sound plan that makes sense. 

But what happens when you use tactical equipment against protesters? Same response as in Iraq.


Did those police forces read the lessons learned by the Army in Iraq?

War must have a victor and a vanquished - or it must not begin.

War is a messy, nasty, vile, and evil business.  War is hell.

If that is true, then it must not be entered lightly.

It's quite simple, if a nation cannot win a war then it should not begin to wage war. If a nation does not have the will to strike with complete determination and stomach for all the evil that will return it's way, then war must be avoided.  The cost of a dithering war is staggering with no purpose.

Leaving an undominated vanquished foe behind on the battlefield is the cause of all the social problems today.  If one side does not admit defeat and become part of the victor, then this cycle of unrest continues until that happens.
